With over 100 years of experience, they started off specializing in steel-framed canvas baskets known for their durability and functionality through a myriad of industrial applications. The company went on to expand their product offering in 1966 to include essentials for the everyday where their signature tote bags, sling chairs, and log carriers debuted. Steele has pioneered in plenty of lanes since the start, but especially when it comes to our idea of the foundational canvas tote bag.

we had the pleasure of visiting the factory they called home for the past forty plus years in Chelsea, MA just before their recent relocation to Wilmington. This field trip highlights the production of our Feels Like Home Studio Tote. Utilizing one of Steele’s foundational styles built from their 21oz. heavyweight canvas, we added FLH touches through our essential shapes, primary colors, and a vinyl coated bottom for extra protection from the elements.
